Tony Attwood on Autism –
Developing Friendship Abilities
July 1, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Charity the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health is proud to present leading authority on Autism, Professor Tony Attwood, offering practical, accessible, advice and tips for you and your child.
In this session Tony looks at ‘Developing the Friendship Abilities of Autistic Children in Primary School’.
Do you worry how your child will make friends? How can you assist positive social engagements? What role does camouflaging play?
In this session you will learn about the social reasoning and friendship abilities of autistic children in their primary school years and strategies to ‘read’ social situations with peers, facilitate social engagement, and make and keep friends.
The session will leave you being able to recognise the profile of social cognition associated with autism, adaptations to the profile including camouflaging, the stages of friendship for typical children during those years.
Importantly from the session you will learn strategies to better enable your child to develop friendship abilities at each stage, and enhance social cognition using a range of resources and activities.
‘…one of the most inspirational and engaging speakers I have had the privilege of seeing’
This is one of four different webinars delivered by Tony Attwood, each priced at £35, there are discounts if you book on more than one. Recordings will be made available to delegates for 28 days.
