In this session Tony looks at ‘Adolescent Issues for Autistic Teenagers’.
Worried your teenager will experience greater challenges than their typical peers? How can you help your child during a time of great physical and mental change? Concerned about your child being impressionable?
From this session you will learn about the changing nature and depth of friendships and codes of conduct among adolescent peers. Potential signs of an emerging mood, personality or eating disorder. Plus, the vulnerability of autistic adolescents to emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.
Discover strategies to facilitate social cohesion, acceptance by peers and a positive sense of self. How you can best help an autistic adolescent cope with increased stress and exhaustion. Plus, ways in which to address aspects of sexuality.
