Autism Eye Magazine has been shortlisted for a prestigious journalism award, highlighting the quality of its editorial and its continuing success.
The title’s editor, Gillian Loughran, has been shortlisted by the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) for the coveted ‘Editor of the Year’ award in the specialist magazine category.
The BSME awards see some of the UK’s biggest magazines compete for accolades. They include such titles as GQ, Good Housekeeping, Elle, Vogue and Time Out.
Focus on success
This year’s contest will focus the judges’ attention on Autism Eye’s coverage of autism and its success in reaching out to its readers.
Gillian has spearheaded the editorial development of the magazine to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year.
She is a previous recipient of an Editor of the Year award for other magazines she has edited. She has also previously won a Feature Writer of the Year award.
‘Huge achievement’
In her view: “The shortlisting of Autism Eye for a BSME award is a huge achievement for all the journalists who work on the title, and the parents and professionals who have contributed their experiences of living with, supporting and representing people on the autism spectrum and who have helped shape its success.”
The BSME will announce the winners of its awards on 11 February during an online ceremony. Autism Eye will be participating in the event.
