Nutrition for Autism (The Bio-Medical Approach)
Diana Wright
A nutritious diet is a key element in improving health and behaviour of individuals on the autism spectrum. Appropriate food choices and informed use of supplements can help in addressing such issues as sleep, digestion, mood and behaviour. This can lead to a better quality of life for people with autism and their families.
Tui Na massage therapy for autism
Leonid Rozman, Tui Na Centre
Tui Na is an oriental massage therapy that has been used since ancient times as a division of traditional Chinese medicine. In addition to addressing physical problems, regular and targeted massage and touch-therapy in general can stimulate the production of calming hormones and regulate sensory processing.
Leonid Rozman has developed a Tui Na massage protocol for autism through his desire to support his own son’s development and improve his quality of life. The protocol helps to address problems prevalent in autism, such as gut, sleep and digestive issues, and speech and articulation problems.
Tui Na massage is holistic and can be used effectively in combination with behavioural and other therapies. In addition, practicing this massage daily can further strengthen the special bond that parents have with their child. In this way it can reduce parental stress and improve parents’ own wellbeing.
Treating Autism is a Journey – One Family’s Story
Parent speaker
A parent will share their family experience of how support and interventions have helped reduce disabling autism-related symptoms for their child. You will hear what helped and what didn’t and how best to learn from other parents’ experience and knowledge. You will also hear how other parents were crucial in supporting the parents emotionally and practically on this family’s journey.
