Harrow School Online is a strong option for young people on the autism spectrum. It’s a sixth-form school open to all genders, providing a whole-school curriculum alongside International A Levels.
Welcoming environment
As we have been balancing the transition back to normal following the pandemic, lockdowns and the continued uncertainty around education and other world events, online schooling has been providing a welcoming environment for any autistic young person.
Young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) requirements are able to study in familiar, comfortable surroundings in their own homes, away from the hustle and bustle of a physical school building. It ensures they have a calm and focused approach, and learning that is accessible to them.
Open to all genders
Harrow School Online is a sixth-form school open to all genders, providing a whole-school curriculum alongside International A Levels.
The School has a flipped classroom pedagogy, meaning pupils do their self-study lessons at a time and pace determined by them before the LiveLesson®.
The LiveLesson® is tailored by the teacher, as they review the self-study learning in the platform and create the lesson to support what the pupils need. All LiveLesson® sessions are recorded and can be watched back if required.
A Success Coach for every pupil
Each pupil has regular coaching with a Success Coach, who helps them develop and work towards study, university and career goals.
Our Success Coaches are SEND specialists who can provide support to pupils with a wide range of needs. The nature of the support depends on the exact needs of the pupil and is determined in consultation with the pupil and their parents.
This may include individual lessons, group study skills lessons or accommodations made by teachers in the LiveLesson® sessions.
As with a traditional school, we are able to apply for accommodations to be made by the examining board, Pearson Edexcel, which reflect the pupil’s normal way of working when pupils take their International AS and A Level examinations.
