Creative education for the neurodiverse
Venues: From home online, in Bracknell and Letchworth.
Every human on the planet absorbs information in different ways, so it makes perfect sense to have different schooling environments teaching in a variety of ways.
Despite the best efforts of teachers nationwide, traditional schools with large class sizes find it hugely challenging to provide for an increasing breadth of learning preferences in the population.
Student quote:
“I am really enjoying the course and the environment as there are less people and I can cope better. My tutor is friendly, patient and kind. My previous experiences at school were traumatic and unable to cope in the school environment. The only place I felt safe was at home when I was gaming. School was a very negative and painful experience. My ambitions moving forward are that I want to start the ‘video game design programme’ college experience.”
The power to be curious
We all have the power to be curious and learn; we just have to respect that some students respond differently to different teaching methods and environments.
We use our expertise to show our students how they can bring something to life that they see or hear in their head and make it a tangible product in the world. Using teaching techniques, we hone pupils’ creative tenacity to spot opportunities and create a future for themselves where they are fulfilled.
Our mission
Our mission is to change the perception of school as a place of confusion and fear for SEN students into one of acceptance, engagement, learning, happiness and potential.
By creating an inclusive learning environment, specifically designed for SEN students, we rebuild their confidence, working with SENCOs to create a pathway back into mainstream education, or preparing the student to graduate and move into work.
Parent quote:
“Watching my son’s confidence grow while at Enemy of Boredom has been amazing, for a child who would never leave the house or socialise or be creative without me by his side. He now has the confidence to speak for himself. The staff are amazing and Enemy Of Boredom is more of a family feel, which helps the children/ young adults thrive.”
Looking ahead at Enemy Of Boredom, we have two main goals:
- EOB will continue to expand our offering across more locations to enable our tried-and-tested curriculum to transform even more SEN students’ lives into ones that heal their mindset, engage and inspire them, and create opportunities within the workplace for them.
- EOB will relieve the stress of an overwhelmed system and provide more support for SENCOs, parents and local authorities with their delivery.
