Registration is now open for the Communication Matters National AAC Conference, 10-12 September 2017.
Meet and exchange ideas and information with over 400 attendees. There will be representatives from all disciplines associated with AAC, including people who use AAC, parents, carers, professionals and suppliers of AAC equipment.

The annual conference is the UK’s leading annual AAC event, with a diverse programme of over 80 presentations, posters and an exhibition of the UK’s leading suppliers of AAC products.

There will be two keynote presentations during the conference:
- • Associate Professor Bronwyn Hemsley – speech pathologist and clinical researcher at the University of Newcastle in Australia
- • Lisa Simpson – disability choreographer from Lisa Simpson Inclusive Dance Limited.
Location and timings
The conference will be held at the University of Leeds, a prestigious “world class” conference venue. Residential accommodation is in the Storm Jameson Court hall of residence, which is at the centre of the pedestrianised campus and a short distance from the seminar rooms, dining room and exhibition. The transport links to Leeds are very good, with a nearby airport and train station.
The conference is held over two and a half days, opening on Sunday 10th Sept at 1pm for registration. The last session on Tuesday 12th Sept will be at approx 3.30pm, followed by tea/coffee. As well as the more formal conference seminars and presentations, there is a full and inclusive social programme.
There will be two awards presented during the conference:
Alan Martin Award:
This annual award is presented during the conference to a person who uses AAC and who has made a significant contribution to the creative arts.

Jamie Munro Inspiration Award:
This new annual award will be presented for the first time at the 2017 conference to someone who is inspirational in the world of AAC.
