Clervaux Trust (part of Ruskin Mill Trust) is committed to providing transformative lifelong learning in an ecologically and socially sustainable model.
It comprises of Clervaux Life (Adult Social Care), the Fold Family Centre and Clervaux Artisan Café and Bakery on our 100-acre biodynamic farm and in nearby Darlington town centre.
Clervaux Garden School
June 2019 saw the opening of Clervaux Trust’s latest development, the Clervaux Garden School, for children and young adults aged 10 – 19 years with additional educational needs. The school provides an opportunity for them to learn and grow within a holistic educational framework.
The aim of the school is to develop responsible, free-thinking young people who can contribute to society with initiative and purpose. We believe each child is unique and deserves a unique educational experience.
Clervaux curriculum
The curriculum at Clervaux offers a balance of academic, artistic, and practical activities, which engage the heads, hands and hearts of our pupils. Ruskin Mill Trust believes that education should develop the whole person intellectually, socially, emotionally and encourage their innate curiosity in order to result in a love of learning.
The curriculum will focus around the garden and practical crafts and will be supported by a range of holistic therapies that will be provided, based on the students’ needs and Education Health & Care Plan requirements.
The varied range of therapies offered compliment learning and help to break down emotional barriers. The unique learning environment offered at Clervaux Garden School will provide opportunities for the children to have a rich sensory experience, using natural materials, working in the garden and on the land.
