Celebrating student success
2025 has been a remarkable year at Beechwood College, marked by outstanding student achievements, exciting changes to the curriculum, and new initiatives set to launch in September for the 2025/26 academic year.
In August, the college welcomed families and friends for its annual Awards Day – an emotional celebration of student success and a heartfelt farewell to the graduating class of 2025.
Country Hoedown
This year’s theme was A Country Hoedown to Remember, and students and staff transformed Beechwood College into the wild west for a vibrant cowboy-themed event – including stunning handmade decorations, signature mocktails, and special performances from students.
Rachel Newman, Principal and College Director, described it as the highlight of her nine years at the college:
“Awards Day this year was, without a doubt, the best in my time at Beechwood. The speeches and performances were powerful, moving, and a true testament to the talent, resilience, and spirit of our students. I am immensely proud of our community and everything we continue to achieve together.”
She added that many parents had told her it was the first time they truly felt seen, heard, and supported:
“It was a day filled with joy, pride, and connection. I couldn’t be more grateful. Next year, we’re aiming even higher – bigger, bolder, and better. Wishing our graduates every success as they reach for the stars!”
What’s New for 2025/26
Beechwood College continues to evolve its curriculum, providing students with new opportunities to grow academically, vocationally, and personally:
- Global Studies: Introduced following a Student Council vote, this new subject invites learners to explore cultures and countries worldwide to develop a deeper understanding of how they fit into the global community.
- Expanded Vocational Training: Building on existing modules in carpentry and engineering, the college will now offer additional trade skills modules in plumbing, painting, and decorating, providing students with more pathways to practical and trade vocations
There are a number of big plans still in the works at Beechwood College, so keep an eye out for some more exciting announcements at the college throughout the year!
