Peter Pan: the high-flying panto adventure
January 8, 2025 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
The Theatre Royal’s family pantomime Peter Pan will offer a ‘relaxed performance’ in January.
This performance will be specially adapted for customers with a wide range of disabilities, those on the autistic spectrum, and people living with dementia.
It is also ideal for families bringing very young children to experience the magic of their first pantomime.
What the relaxed performance offers
On Wednesday 8 January, the 1.30pm matinee performance of Peter Pan will be performed in a less formal, more supportive atmosphere to reduce potential anxiety levels.
There will be small changes to the sound levels, and the lighting levels inside the auditorium will be increased.
No pyrotechnics or strobe lighting will be used and the auditorium doors will be left open so customers can come and go should they need to.
Customers, if they wish, will also be free to move around in the auditorium during the performance.
A chill-out zone will be in the Dress Circle foyer, with beanbags to relax on. Spaces for wheelchair users will be available.
A visual story and notes for parents and carers will be available a few weeks before the performance.

TV fashionista Gok Wan will lead the cast of Peter Pan as The Magical Merman, along with TV personality and actress Denise Welch as Captain Hook, children’s TV favourite Paul Chuckle as Starkey, comedy ventriloquist & BGT Finalist Steve Hewlett as Smee, along with Kate Stewart as Tink, Molly Farmer as Wendy and Aiden Carson as Peter Pan.
