At Disability Rights UK, we’re dedicated to creating a society where disabled people have equal power, rights, and equality of opportunity.
As the UK’s leading organisation for, led, and run by disabled people, we collaborate with disabled people’s organisations and the Government to drive change. We challenge policymakers to improve rights to benefits, quality of life, and economic opportunity.
We know it’s not disability or health conditions that prevent inclusion, but the barriers created by an inaccessible environment.
What we do
Campaigning – on issues including independent living, benefits, transport, education, employment, human rights and discrimination. By ensuring the voice of lived experience of disability is heard, we influence policies to better reflect our needs and rights.
Advice and guidance – our helplines, online resources, and guides (such as our Disability Rights Handbook) provide advice, support, and advocacy to empower people with information.
Training and consultancy – including disability confidence programmes, HR advice, user-testing, and Disability Confident leader validation, to share knowledge and help organisations create inclusive environments.
Inclusion programmes – covering leadership, apprenticeships and well-being. Co-produced with researchers and people with lived experience to truly meet our community’s needs.
Radar keys – we manage the National Key Scheme and supply Radar Keys, giving independent access to locked public toilet facilities across the UK.
