Post-19 is education for life’s next chapter.
Our community-based education focuses on preparing autistic young adults aged 19-25 to transition successfully from education to adulthood with a skill set to live a life of choice and opportunity.
We believe every autistic adult should:
- Have a voice
- Be involved in decision-making
- Contribute to society as active citizens
Through meaningful collaboration with families, employers, and social care providers, we develop tailored pathways that include access to work experience opportunities and support successful transitions into adulthood.
Personalised pathways:
Each individual has unique aspirations, likes, and dislikes. That’s why we offer bespoke planning to meet each person’s specific needs. There is no “typical timeline” at Post-19; instead, we support each student in creating their ideal week, ensuring they enjoy and benefit from their activities.
Just enough support:
Our partnership-driven, interdisciplinary approach allows us to collaborate with internal teams and external agencies, providing “just enough support” to foster independence. Students split their time between our hubs and community-based learning. This includes regular community trips, work experience placements, and workshops led by local enterprises to enhance practical skills and promote community integration.
A parent says:
“I am so proud that my son has been successful in his supported work experience placement managed by the BeyondAutism Post-19. Skills he can now use independently working at the wonderful ‘Specialist Works’ marketing agency – such as cleaning surfaces, filling and emptying the office dishwasher… he’s also brought home to help us around the house. I would not have thought any of this possible but BeyondAutism combines excellent teaching with high expectations of all learners.”
