Autism Unlimited’s autism training and accreditations are designed for employers and HR teams who are interested in pursuing acceptance and inclusion in their workforce.
It is for those who are keen to understand the advantages of a neurodiverse workforce and the skills and talents that come with it.
These include:
- Educating your team about the benefits and strengths that autistic people bring to the workplace.
- Improving employee morale and staff retention with a culture of belonging and working together.
- Expanding your talent pool – currently, only 22% of autistic people are in full-time employment – that’s a whole new group of employees you could be recruiting.
- The knowledge that you are contributing to a greater understanding and acceptance of autism.
- The ability to promote your business’s contribution to autism acceptance and use of the accreditation mark on both your website and other external communications.
1,800 employees already benefit
So far, over 10 businesses and 1,800 employees have benefitted from the Autism Unlimited Training programme.
An autistic person has many skills, such as fierce concentration and amazing attention to detail, which can be a huge advantage to any industry or workforce.
What’s involved
The training has been co-produced with our friends and colleagues in the autistic community and is delivered in two stages.
First, there’s Understanding Autism, which is an e-learning course teaching learners what autism is and how the autistic community experience the world.
This is followed by a face-to-face session called Autism Acceptance, which equips learners with strategies and techniques so they can help autistic people feel included, understood, and supported.
Communication and environment
As part of our training programme learners are introduced to different communication techniques and how to adapt the environment from a sensory perspective to allow an autistic person time to process important information. By engaging your workforce in this process, you will create understanding and acceptance and reap all the benefits this brings to your business.
