In-house Intensive Interaction Introduction Course

This is a certificated course and will be of interest to those organisations involved in the care, support or education of children or adults with learning difficulties and/or autism who wish to introduce or give refreshers to their staff in the background and practice of Intensive Interaction. These will include social services staff, teachers and assistants, nurses, staff from voluntary organisations, therapists and other carers and can be delivered in person or online.
About the approach
Intensive Interaction is a person-centred communication approach that directly promotes the social inclusion and communication development of autistic people.
Intensive interaction is a responsive approach to communication that both celebrates and respects each individual’s uniqueness, with practitioners consciously adjusting their communicative style to maximise the social engagement of each individual.
The approach is now well established across many autism support and educational services and is supported by a robust and growing evidence base.
Good quality training is essential in supporting Intensive Interaction practitioners’ implementation of the approach by developing their knowledge base and reflective skills, as well as supporting organisations to ensure that Intensive Interaction’s open and inclusive philosophy can support their core service values.
